Welcome to Bootworks (photos)

Bootworks Theatre Collective are an unincorporated and multi‐disciplined group of artists committed to making high quality and innovative street art and performance.

Bootworks (and The Black Box) have been making and touring work since 1999. We have a number of ‘core’ members (see biographies, here), but are a collective in the traditional sense. The main work and ‘company’ is coordinated and directed by Robert Daniels, Oliver Ryles and Emily Coleman. However, every show is devised and performed by an ever-changing roster of artists; most of us experienced professionals in our own right, but sometimes (because of our work in other areas) emerging artists, and young talent; freshly graduated or trained. We pride ourselves in supporting emerging artists from our region, with many of the performers that have joined us over the years going on to establish their own work and careers, using Bootworks as their step into the small-scale touring culture. Some stay with us to mentor new members and contribute to the organisational and managerial work of the company.

Since we began the Black Box project, we have been repeatedly re‐booked by Glastonbury and Larmer Tree festivals and have become a regular addition to their programmes. The Black Box has proven to meet and often surpass the expectations of those who have commissioned and seen our work in the past, and our work is always overbooked and praised by our audiences for its quality and originality.
